Council makes funding available to offer young people an amazing summer
Dumfries and Galloway Council has announced that £250,000 funding will be available for local Third Sector organisations and businesses to give children and young people a summer to remember.
It is seeking local organisations to deliver free activities during the school holidays from June 26 to August 18.
This funding is specifically aimed at providing children and young people from P1-S6, with opportunities to meet with their friends and take part in free activities across Dumfries and Galloway.
A council spokesperson explained: “In particular, this will provide support for those children and young people who may otherwise struggle to access such experiences during the holidays, and will give them the opportunity to socialise, play and reconnect with their local communities and environments.
"We are looking for a range of different activities and experiences across all communities.
"We recognise the impact that the pandemic and associated lockdown has had on our young people and this programme will help them to get back to normality.
"This programme of activities is being co-produced with local children and young people to ensure that they get the activities that they enjoy and will also be key part of the decision making panel.”
