Next year’s Newton Stewart Walking Festival will be officially launched this Saturday (10th December).

The outline programme for the 2017 event, which will run from 5th to 11th May, will feature a programme of over 30 events. Copies can be picked up on launch day from the Stewart R Cunningham Outdoor Centre in the town’s Victoria Street.

Chair of the organising committee, Joan Mitchell, said: “As one of Scotland’s longest running walking festivals we are delighted to play our part in putting Newton Stewart and Galloway on the walking map.”

“Our fifteenth festival programme seeks to once again show off the great variety of walking opportunities in Galloway. From the dramatic cliffs of the Rhins, to the quiet country lanes of the Machars and the rugged Galloway hills. We hope there is something to suit everyone. Put a date in your dairy for next May.”

The summary festival programme will also be available on the festival website www.newtonstewartwalkfest.com and on the festival’s Facebook page shortly after the official launch.

A detailed programme will be available online and in booklet form early in the new year, when bookings will also open. To keep up to date with the 2017 festival with the free newsletter at www.newtonstewartwalkfest.com.
