Dumfries and Galloway ranked second in the UK for public toilets

New research from PlumbNation has listed Dumfries and Galloway as second in the UK for the Public Toilet Index 2021.

With a population listed as 148,860 the region has 96 public toilets, 81 of which are open, meaning there are 5.4 open toilets per 10,000 population.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

Eighteen (or 18.75 per cent) have baby changing facilities, equating to 1.2 per 10,000 population.

The region only finished behind the Highlands which for a population of 235,830 has 257 public toilets, 216 of which are open, equating to 9.2 open toilets per 10,000 population.

Cities dominated the top 10 for free toilets and accessible toilets, with Edinburgh first for both.
