Sue Grimes from the Sorbie Quilt Group was overjoyed to receive a Judges Merit Award for a cot quilt she entered in the Scottish Quilt Championships.

Sue won the award for her folded patchwork quilt which was her first ever entry into the competition.

The whole group also entered and set themselves the challenge of creating a quilt to enter into the community section of the competition.

They made ‘1,2 missed a ewe 99,100’ which sadly didn’t win a prize but the group spent many happy hours and shared just as many laughs in the process of creating the quilt.

The rest of the group were thrilled that Sue received a prize for her quilt.

The championships was help in Edinburgh on Sunday September 27.

The group make quilts for the Dumfries and Galloway region of Project Linus UK and so far this year have made over 111 quilts.

To help raise money for fabric the quilt group will be holding another Soup and Sweet event at Whauphill Hall on the 24th October.
