The annual ‘Wigtown Week’ will become the ‘Wigtown Weekend’ this summer after organiser decided to reduce the community festival to three days.
Wigtown Community Council member and community festival coordinator Carl Davis told the Gazette they were looking forward to organising a programme of events but were keen to encourage residents to have their say about what happens.
Mr Davis said: “I can confirm the Wigtown Festival will be 11-13 July with events to be centred around bringing local families together to use the town gardens and County Buildings. There will also be a few smaller annual events happening the week after.
“The community council will be arranging the weekend events and our next open meeting is March 6, at 7.30pm in the County Buildings viewing room. We had a good turnout of community councillors at the first meeting but very few members of the community. We are looking for help and support from all members of the community.”
