“Casual water” was observed in its solid state – and in some unusual places – as Newton Stewart Golf Club held its official opening competition to start the 2013 season.

A good attendance saw the new captains and vice-captains tee off on a beautiful spring afternoon, with the captains’ team scoring better on the day.

The captain and committee are working hard to turn around their financial situation and have already seen an improvement. They are committed to securing the club’s future, and with the help and support of all members feel sure this can be achieved.

After a recent meeting with the club’s office-bearers, the council’s representative wrote: “I was very impressed by the way the club is focusing on reviewing and revising its business model to ensure that efficiencies are made immediately, but also that the longer term sustainability of the club remains of paramount importance.”
