The 2014 Wigtownshire Sports Personality of the Year awards took place in Wigtown’s County Buildings on Friday.
Each year, the public are asked by Wigtownshire Sports Council to nominate boys, girls, men, women and teams from the area area who have excelled in their sports during the previous year.
The committee then asseses each nomination and decides on a winner. This year, those winners were:
Junior Female - 1st Adrianna Bullivant (Swimming); 2nd Maria Cowan (Golf); 3rd= Rachel Beswick (Swimming) and Rachael Baillie (Equestrian).
Junior Male - 13 years and under - 1st Struan Hayes (Highland Dancing); 2nd Lewis MacLeod (Swimming); 3rd= Sam Mitchell (Swimming) and Spencer Bullivant (Swimming).
Junior Male - 1st Tyler Jolly (Boxing); 2nd Josh Mitchell (Swimming); 3rd Matthew McCulloch (Golf).
Junior Team - 1st Bobby Lammie, Neil Topping and Euan Kyle (Curling); 2nd Millennium U17 Football Team (Football).
Senior Team - 1st Hugh Aitken, Norman Brown, and Andrew McQuistin (Curling); 2nd avid and Lesley McColm (Bowling) and 3rd Peggy Thompson and Sheila Hanlin (Bowling).
Coach - 1st Linda Duffy (Swimming); 2nd James Hilton (Boxing); 3rd Brian Park (Curling).
Volunteer - 1st Simon Gibson (Equestrian).
