Wigtown and Bladnoch continue their quest to win as much silverware as possible this season following a narrow 2-1 victory over Wigtownshire rivals Newton Stewart at Blairmount on Tuesday night.

They battled to the win in front of a good support and now take their place it the semi-final of the Tweedie Cup.

The home side took the lead when Dean Thomson converted from the penalty spot but the visitors managed to square the match just before the half-time whistle when Robert Paisley found the equaliser.

In a second half goalmouth scramble, Ian Millar found the net to give Wigtown the lead which they held until the end and although there were chances at each end in a very even contest it is Wigtown who progress.

The two sides meet again at Blairmount this Saturday to contest the semi-final of the Potts Cup in what should be another intriguing encounter.
