Wigtown have chance to increase lead

Top of the table Wigtown and Bladnoch have the opportunity this Saturday to increase their lead in the South of Scotland League when they play a home match at Trammondford Park against Mid-Annandale.

This should be a very interesting match with the Lockerbie side recording a victory in their match last Saturday against present champions St Cuthbert Wanderers and with the home side going strong and showing league title aspirations even this early in the season. Home advantage could possibly be the deciding factor in what may well be a close run contest.

Creetown should manage to take the three points in their match at Castle Cary Park when they play hosts to bottom placed Dumfries YMCA to keep up their very good start to the season.

There are five games scheduled to be played in the First Round of the South of Scotland League Cup with some very good ties in prospect.

The local derby at Dumfries between Lochar Thistle and Heston Rovers looks like a match that is very evenly balanced while the same could be said for the tie at Moffat where Upper Annandale entertain Newton Stewart.

Lochmaben play hosts to St Cuthbert Wanderers at Lockerbie with the Kirkcudbright side favourites to progress while Threave Rovers will have to be at their very best to see off the challenge from Edusport Academy. The match scheduled to be played at Sanquhar looks like another one that could go close when Nithsdale Wanderers play Abbey Vale with the home side possibly starting as slight favourites to progress in this particular cup competition.
