Wigtown close in on title

There are only three matches scheduled to be played this weekend when Wigtown and Bladnoch have another opportunity to close in on their challenge for this season’s league title.

Crichton travel to Trammondford for this contest for which the home side will start as strong favourites to continue their march to the top.

Crichton have shown at times this season that they are no pushovers and Wigtown will have to be at their best to take the three points following their reversal at Palmeston Park in midweek when they went down by the odd goal in three to Heston Rovers in a cup tie.

Abbey Vale will entertain Heston Rovers as they head towards the end of their league season for what could possibly be a close match with the visitors starting as slight favourites to take the three points.

Creetown have Nithsdale Wanderers as their visitors to Castle Cary Park for a Tweedie Cup second round tie in a contest the Sanquhar team should win with the experience they have throughout their ranks.

The games are coming thick and fast for Wigtown as the season draws to a close and on Tuesday evening they travel to Blairmount Park to play Newton Stewart in the second round of the Tweedie Cup.

This match sees first and second in the league facing each other for what will be the first of three confrontations the two sides will have before the end of the season and it is a contest that looks like it could go either way.

The tie could very well take more than the scheduled 90 minutes to decide a winner but the match will surely be one full of entertainment for the large crowd of supporters that is expected to attend.
