The semi-final of the Cree Lodge Cup took place on Friday night when Nithsdale Wanderers beat Dalbeattie Star in a penalty shoot-out following a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.
Lee Sneider gave the Sanquhar side the lead but Scott Milligan levelLed the match with five minutes left to play.
In a penalty shoot-out, Nithsdale scored from their five penalty kicks, with Star missing one of theirs. Nithsdale now meet St Cuthbert Wanderers in the final on Wednesday, May 22.
On Saturday both these sides were scheduled to be called back into action but, fortunately for Nithsdale, their match against St Cuthbert Wanderers was one of three South of Scotland League postponed because of overnight heavy rain. Creetown versus Heston Rovers and Newton Stewart against Threave Rovers were also called off because of water-logged pitches.
The only match that went ahead was the one at Islecroft where leaders Dalbeattie Star managed to overcome the challenge of Wigtown and Bladnoch by 3-1 playing their fifth successive match in a week.
Gary Smith gave the visitors the lead before Scott Milligan equalised. A double from Jak Dinwall secured the important three points which leaves Star needing only a single point from their midweek contest against Fleet Star to retain their league title.
