THE annual Viking invasion of the golf courses of Galloway has begun.

Early this morning the Gazette caught up with the Danish golfing pilgrims who have come over the North Sea in peace looking simply for wide fairways, cool beer and the best of local hospitality.

The annual Kirkcowan Viking Golfing Challenge was the brainchild of well known ‘Kirkcowanite’ Jack Parker, who has links to Denmark through his work. Throughout the visit Jack acts as courier for the group who, for the next few days, will be visiting courses in Wigtownshire, Ayrshire and the Stewartry.
