Bravehearts ABC boxer Tyler Jolly got to the semi-final of the Western District Championships in Motherwell last Saturday.

In the 57 kilo lightweight semi, 13-year-old Tyler was up against Jack Nicholas from Clelland ABC.

Bravehearts coach Tom Jolly said: “This was a toe-to-toe non-stop battle of the two current Scottish champions, both boxers giving no quarter.

“The judges scored the bout at points each and the hand of Nicholas was raised on the countback system.”

Tyler is currently training for his Scottish title defence in March.

We would like to clarify that the cheque presented to the Douglas Ewart High School by the Bravehearts was for £1000 not £10,000 as reported in last week’s Galloway Gazette. This was due to a mistake in the copy sent to the Gazette from the Bravehearts press officer.
