Tough cup draws for South sides

William Hill Scottish Cup First Round Draw

The first round draw for the 2012/13 William Hill Scottish Cup took place at Edinburgh Castle on Monday, July 23.

SFA commercial director Kenny MacLoed, last season’s Heart of Midlothian captain Marius Zaliuskas and David Russell, William Hill Group HR director, conducted the draw.

The draw looks to have been the kindest to Threave Rovers who received a home tie against East of Scotland Premier League side Vale of Leithen, with the other three South member clubs being drawn away from home.

Wigtown and Bladnoch take the long journey to play Scottish Highland League side Huntly, who defeated Newton Stewart last season.

Newton Stewart have drawn East of Scotland Premier League side Civil Service Strollers, who play in Edinburgh and are a purely amateur team but who enjoyed a good midfield position in their league last season.

If St Cuthbert Wanderers can overcome Keith in the preliminary round, they will also travel to the capital to play Edinburgh University. South of Scotland League champions Dalbeattie Star enter the competition in round two.

All first round matches are scheduled to be played on Saturday, August 25.
