Tarff Rovers team of ‘69 reunion

A reunion of the Tarff Rovers football team which won the Scottish Qualifying Cup in 1969 was held recently at the Creebridge House Hotel in Newton Stewart.

After a lovely lunch there was much reminiscing of the match 45 years ago.

For the record, Tarff beat St Cuthbert Wanderers 4-3 on aggregate over two legs. It was a close run thing during the second game at St Mary’s Park, Kirkcudbright when the home team scored two goals in the last three minutes to take the score to 3-0 in their favour but Tarff held on and, for the first time in the club’s history, the Scottish Qualifying Cup was handed over to Tarff Rovers captain Johnny Hanlon.
