The open pairs tournament held on July 27 was a great success.

A hot and sunny day saw 24 pairs take part. The prize money was shared between Stuart Kennedy and Derek Jolly from Whithorn and Jock Heron and Derek Kiltie from the Isle.

Sorbie president Michael McGuinness said: “It was a great tournament played in a friendly and good-natured spirit. Thanks in particular to Rab Marshall from Newton Stewart for his fine sportsmanship.

“It was a fantastic turnout and I’d like to thank the members of other local bowling clubs for supporting the event. Thanks also to Sorbie members for all their hard work on the day.

“And may I give a special mention to our sponsors, Sandy Milven and Robin Davidson, for their continued support of Sorbie Bowling Club.”
