Last weekend, Stranraer BMX expert Kriss Kyle came home with a staggering £1,250 prize money in the BSD Jam 2011 ahead of some of the top names in the sport.

People came from across the county to see some of the legends of the sport such as Van Homan, Geoff Slattery, Dan Lacey, Harry Main, Alex Coleburn and many more. Nike flew their Euopen team into Glasgow and Kriss had been waiting for his chance to compete against them.

Before the big event there was an amateur event, giving the chance for the competitors to impress their heroes. Kriss had “the best day of his life so far”, according to his mum Veronica, as he managed to beat all the top riders - winning first place and £1000, along with £250 from the bowl contest.

Veronica said: “I am so proud of him, he has worked hard to get this far in his career. Hopefully there will be big things happening in the near future for Kriss as Kriss.”

Kriss is sponsored by sports brand Nike, who are thrilled with his progress.
