Stoneykirk’s Abi Brown and Stranraer’s Hamilton McMillan are representing Scotland at the World Junior Curling Championships in Sweden just now and are both on course for the final stages.

Abi plays lead on Hannah Fleming’s team who are sitting on a five win three loss record yesterday morning. The Scotland girls must beat Russia in their last round-robin game to qualify for the play-off stages.

Hamilton McMillan is the alternate for Kyle Smith’s team and they are also looking good for the final stages with a five win two loss record.

Meanwhile, a former Stranraer curler is playing for Manitoba in the world famous ‘Brier’ Canadian Curling Championships. Allan Lyburn, is third player on Rob Fowler’s team who are on a 6-3 record. His brother William is the alternate on the team.

The Lyburn brothers emigrated to Canada with their parents when they were teenagers.
