THE Wigtownshire Sports Personality Awards for 2013 finally took place in the Wigtown County Buildings last Thursday evening.
Heavy snow put paid to the event the previous Friday but the competitiors and coaches nominated gathered in the Supper Room to hear who had won what.
After a demonstartion by the Whithorn Bravehearts Amateur Boxers there were short speeches from Raymond Smith, the chairman of the Wigtown Sports Council and Dumfries and Galloway Council’s leisure and sports manager Karen Brownlee, the presentations got underway.
The winners were:
Junior Female Sports Personality - Ellis Hayes (Highland dancing).
Junior Male Sports Personality (13 and under) - Josh Mitchell (swimming).
Junior Male Sports personallity - Tyler Jolly (boxing).
Junior Sport Team - Junior Bowls Triple - Liam Conlan, Mark Conlan amd William McMillan (bowling).
Senior Sports Team - Senior Bowls Four - Ian McColm, John Patterson, Willie McWhirter and Jimmy Sproat (bowling).
Sport Coach / Administrator - James Hilton (boxing).
Disabled Sportperson - Hugh Nibloe (curling).
Senior female Sports Personality - Nadine Scott (equestrian).
Senior Male Sports Personality - Ian Hannah (athletics).
Sports Council Award for Services to Sport - Brian and Ilene Park (curling).
SALSA Local Service to Sport Award - Frank Coulson.
