South teams in regional cup action

This Saturday sees the first round of the South Regional Cup being played with three South of Scotland League teams being involved.

St Cuthbert Wanderers travel to play Cumbernauld Colts for a match the Kirkcudbright side will have to be at their best to take anything from the contest.

The other two teams involved Heston Rovers and Creetown both travel over to the Borders to play Gala Fairydean and Vale of Leithen respectively when the home sides will start as favourites to progress to round two.

There are five South of Scotland League matches scheduled to take place with league leaders travelling to Sanquhar to play Nithsdale Wanderers and should take the three points to keep their unbeaten run intact while second placed Mid-Annandale have a home match at Lockerbie where they entertain Abbey Vale in what could be a very even match.

Lochar Thistle play hosts to Lochmaben at Maxwelltown High School with the home side the more likelier to take the three points and at Blairmount Park Newton Stewart take on Edusport Academy in a match that could go either way. Threave Rovers have Upper Annandale as their visitors to Meadow Park, Castle Douglas and will be looking to take the three points as they attempt to climb the league table.
