In the South of Scotland league last Saturday only one game went ahead with the match at Sanquhar between Nithsdale Wanderers and Heston Rovers being postponed due to a water logged pitch.

Newton Stewart versus Fleet Star did go ahead at Blairmount Park with the Creesiders running out comfortable winners by four goals to nil. Ryan Mckie found the net twice to add to a goal each for Johnny Fisher and Robert Middleton to give the home side the three points.

In the second round of the Haig Gordon Cup, Wigtown and Bladnoch beat Creetown by three goals to one at Castle Cary Park while Crichton beat neighbours Abbey Vale by six goals to three with Robert Green scoring a hat trick.

At St Mary’s Park, St Cuthbert Wanderers easily beat Lochar Thistle by eight goals to nil with seven of the goals coming in the second half of the match. Roman Soltys scored a hat trick with Andrew Donely finding the net twice. Singles from Craig Rudd, Sam Warren and Philip Middlemas completed the rout.

Mid Annandale progressed to the semi final stages of the Haig Gordon cup by beating Dumfries YMCA by six goals to two at Lockerbie although finishing the match with nine men. Matty Copland was red-carded after thirty-seven minutes play and seven minutes from time, Nathan Muir left the field injured after all Mids subs had been used. Connor Murray opened the scoring after twenty-two minutes with Andy White adding a second two minutes later. Jordan Barker pulled a goal back for YMCA from the penalty spot seven minutes from the break but Darren notman restored Mids two goal lead just on the half time whistle. In the second half White scored again for the home side before Barker scored a second for the visitors. Notman added another two goals to complete his hat trick and to ensure his team progressed on this particular competition.
