Dalbeattie Star will compete the SFA regional cup final once again at East Kilbride having beaten Spartans by the odd goal in five – a great achievement for the stewartry club

There were three Haig Gordon first round cup ties played last weekend with Heston Rovers overcoming Creetown in a slender two goals to nil victory.

The visitors held the lead though at the half-time break through a goal scored after 21 minutes by Stevie Beggs.

Heston fought back in the second-half and two goals on six minutes endured progress for Heston to play Newton Stewart in round two.

In the fifty third minute a Stuart Douglas cross found the head of Stevie Walker to level the match and on the fifty-ninth minute a Grant Learmont volley from the edge of the 18-yard box secured victory got the Dumfries team.

At Sanquhar Nithsdale could only muster a goal from Davy Kennedy in their match against Lochar who found the net six times.

Willie Dempster scored a hat-trick for the visitors while Craig Muir scored a double and Kieran Krouse also found the net.

Wigtown and Bladnoch had a comfortable victory over St cCthbert Wanderers in a four goal romp. Blair Dougan scored a double with Dean Agnew and Jamie McHarrie scoring the others.
