South league takes centre stage

Weather permitting there will be a full programme of fixtures taking place in South football this Saturday with six South of Scotland League matches scheduled.

There’s also one South Challenge Round Two cuptie.

The in form Crichton will play Upper Annandale at Hospital Park for a place in Round Three of the Challenge Cup in a contest the home side will go into as strong favourites to progress from.

League leaders Edusport Academy should take the three points from their encounter with Lochar Thistle at Maxwelltown High School but may well have to be at their very best to do so against a side who never know when they are beaten.

Challengers St Cuthbert Wanderers play hosts to Newton Stewart at St Marys Park for a match that could go close although the home side who are still unbeaten in the league will be favourites to add another three points to their already impressive tally.

Creetown have Mid-Annandale as their visitors to Castle Cary Park for a match that could go close although the Lockerbie side could well take the three points from this contest but will have to fight for anything they may take from the game.

Fleet Star will be looking to take the points from their match against Dumfries YMCA at Garries Park while Heston Rovers and Abbey Vale may have to share the points at Palmerston Park.

Present champions Wigtown and Bladnoch travel to Sanquhar to play Nithsdale Wanderers for a match that could go either way with a share of the points a distinct possibility.
