Leswalt Curling Club member Margaret Agnew was an important member of the Ayr Ladies squad that completed the remarkable double of winning both the Henderson Bishop Trophy and the Morton Trophy within the space of a week recently.

‘Mags’, who played out of Ayr Ice Rink before marriage brought her to the Rhins of Galloway, still travels regularly to play at and for Ayr.

Skipping her team of Gail Thompson, Alison Cunningham and Anne Anderson at the prestigious Henderson Bishop Trophy, for elite ladies teams, at Lockerbie Ice Rink, they saw off the challenge of Murrayfield 2 in the final.

A few days later, three teams of Ayr Ladies headed to Kirkcaldy to the Fife Ice Arena for the final of the Morton Trophy, where they beat Kinross Ladies 2-1 in the 50th anniversary final of the Morton.
