Whithorn Braveheart boxer Tyler Jolly won silver in the GB championships last weekend when he was beaten by fellow Scottish boxer Stephen McKenna.
Tyler beat the English champion in the semi-final, willing all three rounds unanimously. In Sunday’s final against McKenna, who had beat the Welsh champion to reach the final, Tyler lost out on a split decision.
Braveheart coach Tom Jolly said: “Tyler produced a solid performance over the weekend easily winning against the English champion in the semi-final. Sunday’s final was a toe-to-toe encounter that could have topped the bill at any boxing show and the judges had a difficult decision picking a winner. But it was his fellow Scottish sparring partner that got his hand raised - this time.“
Tyler’s solid performance has earned him a place on the Scottish team that jets off to Portugal in a few weeks’ time to compete in a training camp and international match.
Bravehearts Boxing Club encourage any new members to attend on Monday and Thursday nights 7pm till 9pm in Whithorn New Town Hall.
