The Wigtownshire team were runners-up in the recent Urquhart Trophy football competition.

The event was held on April 27 with five teams taking part. They were Stewartry, Dumfries Burgh, Upper Nithsdale, Annandale and Eskdale, and Wigtownshire.

In the first game Wigtownshire beat Annan and Eskdale 2-0, then Upper Nithsdale 6-0. In game three, Wigtownshire dominated Stewartry but failed to score and ended up drawing 0-0.

The final game against Dumfries Burgh was a close encounter but Burgh scored late in the game to secure a 1-0 victory to win the trophy, with Wigtownshire runners-up.
