That was after having suffered their first league defeat in midweek when they were beaten 2-0 by Edusport Academy.

Striker Roman Soltys returned to the team as a second half substitute and scored a hat trick.

Doubles from Craig Rudd and Andrew Donley and a penalty from Sam Warren added to a single from Hugh Cameron completed the rout.

Heston Rovers won 4-1 against Upper Annandale. Uppers went ahead though when Mark Leighfield opened the scoring but the match was levelled through an own goal.

With only eight minutes left to play the visitors found their scoring touch when Alex Maxwell, Jonathan Boyd and Russell Jardine found the net to secure the victory.

Lochar thistle won their way through to round four of the south challenge cup by beating Nithsdale Wanderers 2-0 at Sanquhar with Lee Martin and Craig Muir scoring the crucial goals.

Wigtown and Bladnoch were beaten at home by Crichton in the first round of the Potts Cup 3-2 while Edusport Academy suffered defeat in the south regional challenge cup semi final by the high flying Edinburgh city 2-0. Edinburgh city now play Whitehill welfare in the final after they narrowly beat ormiston 3-2.

There is a full programme of South of Scotland league matches scheduled to be played this Saturday. Title favourites St Cuthbert Wanderers travel to Dumfries to play Lochar thistle for what should be a fairly evenly balanced match on present form although the visitors will start the match as slight favourites to add another three points to their already impressive tally.

Dumfries YMCA have Creetown as their visitors with the Ferrytoon side the more likelier to take the three points from this contest while the match at Sanquhar where Newton Stewart complete their league campaign against Nithsdale Wanderers could go either way.

Fleet Star play hosts to Heston Rovers with the visitors favourites to take the spoils from this match and Wigtown and Bladnoch will be looking for the three points from their match against Upper Annandale that will be played at Dumfries High School.

Mid Annandale play Crichton at Lockerbie in another contest that looks like it could go either way and with both sides knowing the way to goals this could well be a high scoring encounter.
