Threave Rovers are through to the final of this season’s South of Scotland League Cup after beating Heston Rovers 3-0 at Maryfield on Saturday.
James Baty put the Castle Douglas side ahead after 33 minutes, with Colin Kay and Russell Parker adding a further two goals in the second half to see the Meadow Park side winning comfortably. Threave will now play Stewartry rivals Dalbeattie Star in the final, which will be played at Palmerston Park on Friday, May 3, with a 7.30pm kick-off.
The other four matches played at the weekend were all South of Scotland League clashes.
Crichton and Mid-Annandale played out a close and even match at Hospital Park, with the Lockerbie side coming out on top by the odd goal in three.
Nathan Muir put Mids ahead after 22 minutes to give the visitors a slender half-time lead. In the 64th minute the match was squared when Roman Soltys scored for Crichton from the penalty spot, but the visitors fought back and, with 15 minutes left to play, Andy White scored to give Mids the three points.
Fleet Star held visitors Abbey Vale to a goal each but the New Abbey side pulled away to win comfortably 5-1 in the end.
Wigtown and Bladnoch scored seven without reply against Nithsdale Wanderers at Trammondford Park with the first two goals coming in the first half. Blair Dougan and Michael Donnelly added one each after the break with Jamie McHarrie scoring a hat-trick.
