PETER Stewart will be back at the wheel of his usedcarparts.co.uk Ford Fiesta ST this weekend, bringing the Rallying with Holy Socks team back to full strength for the RSAC Scottish Rally in Dumfries.
Work commitments meant Peter had to opt out of last month’s Reiver’s Rally but tomorrow (Saturday) he will be renewing his rivalry with Mark McCulloch.
Peter, who will be co-driven by Phil Shortt, was the 2010 Scottish Junior Rally Champion while Mark took the title in 2008. The Newton Stewart driver, with Craig Wallace on the notes, is seeded at 29th with Peter one car behind at 30, so the rivals couldn’t be closer.
Peter’s Dad Richard will be competing in the Cooper’s Fiaam liveried Subaru Impreza with regular co-driver Carin Logan. They are seeded 36th.
Completing the Rallying with Holy Socks trio and currently lying seventh in the Championship, will be third seed Jock Armstrong in the Earsman Subaru.
Kirsty Riddick will be back in the co-drivers seat having missed the Reiver’s Rally because of co-driving duties in Barbados.
The pair will be hoping that their “Scottish” will last longer than last year when they came of road on the first stage.
“Last year’s Group “N” winner, Jock’s now in the Open Class and he’ll be looking for a really good result this weekend” said Holy Socks Margaret Wyllie “and I’m very pleased Pete and Phil will be back out on the rally this weekend. It’ll be an interesting battle with Mark and Craig. Richard and Carin have had a couple of pretty good finishes this year too, so I’m looking forward to a good day all round.”
