Rain can’t halt dressage

The torrential rain on Saturday didn’t stop the dressage taking place at Calgow Equestrian on Sunday May 19.

Judge Liz Paterson, ably assisted by her daughter as scribe, had 24 competitors to judge! It was super to see such a good turn out on a damp and dull day with lots of horses and riders competing at Calgow for the first time. Prizes for the best turned out were presented by Jillian from Glad Nags Tack Shop which was open for the day. Best turned-out winners were Logan Anderson with Toffee and Elaine Clark with Mona. A difficult choice to make given the effort everyone had made to turn out to a high standard.

There was a large turnout for the first night of junping at Calgow with lots of people returning from previous years, some new faces and several new horse and rider combinations. Galloway Branch of the Pony Club

On Sunday May 19, five Galloway members competed at Raehills near Lockerbie in Dumfriesshire Branch of the Pony Club’s Cross Country Competition with Show Jumping. Three came home with rosettes:

Jony Hall and Evie - 3rd

Jessica Hannay and Molly - 4th

Mhairi Fisher and Connie - 6th

All were in the Pony Club Novice Class (13yrs and over) jumping 75cms SJ and XC.

Mollie Miller Smith and Eilidh Fisher were not in the rosettes this time but it was a great good experience from which they can only benefit . Three members also travelled without ponies who course walked and assisted those competing. They too had a very educational day and are now much better prepared for their first competitive XC event Well done everyone!
