Specsavers in Stranraer is supporting Stranraer Bowling Club’s Stena Line open pairs tournament for this year.

The store has given organisers £300 to sponsor the two-day event, which will be held on 19 and 20 September, helping to make the event even bigger and better than last year.

The money will be used to support the overall tournament, the only one in the district ranked through Bowls Scotland. International players will be participating this year for the first time.

Store director Elaine Hawthorn said: “We are delighted to be linking up with Stranraer Bowling Club and sponsoring the Stena tournament.

“Supporting local causes and the community as a whole is something that’s very important to us and we’re very excited to be involved.”

Stranraer Bowling Club treasurer and fundraiser, Susan Kelly said: “The management committee and members of Stranraer Bowling Club would like to thank Specsavers for its support of the tournament. It’s a very high profile event and attracts players from across the globe.

2It’s fantastic to have the support of such an important local organisation.”
