Talented junior swimmer Finlay Anderson from Newton Stewart represented Dumfries and Galloway at the Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) national swimming championships for junior swimmers with a physical or sensory disability recently.

The event was held in the Grangemouth Sport Complex and Finlay was chosen to represent Galloway following a regional qualifying competition held at DG One Leisure Complex in October.

Over 200 swimmers from all over Scotland attended the national championships and Finlay had a thoroughly enjoyable day but narrowly missed out on the medals.

Councillor Ronnie Nicholson, chair of the council’s policy and resources committee said; “I would like to congratulate Finlay on his exceptional performance and would like to thank the local swimming teachers and coaches for all their efforts in preparing Finlay for the championships.”
