The McMillan Bonspiel, the premier event during the curling season at Stranraer Ice Rink, was won in style by Hammy McMillan and his team of Gail Munro, Frank McHugh and John Munro who beat Frazer Hare, Andrew Chalmers, Logan Hare and John Agnew in a high-class final.

After his curling team won 11 games in a row to secure Great Britain’s first gold medal at the 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Wigtown Curling Club member Gregor Cannon spoke to The Galloway Gazette.

The team included Stranraer swimmers Kalle Hoad, Cameron Allison, Rachael Beswick, Lauren Anderson and Lewis McLeod and Stephen Dale-Sunley from Kirkcudbright.
