The competition was a great success and well organised.

Congratulations go to Ross McCleary and Craig Gudmundsson on winning the Scottish Pairs. They defeated and Brian Thomson and Ryan Asher. Two great draws in end three gave McCleary a 3 – 2 lead at the halfway point. A burnt stone in end four gave McCleary a steal of one. Thomson was heavy with a draw against four in end five, finals score 8 – 2.

Thanks go to Gail Munro and her ice staff for working hard to produce good interesting ice.

The final weekend competition of the season took place last week end at Stranraer Ice Rink. Most of the rinks who won a weekend throughout the season retuned to fight it out for the top prize of a 10-day stay in a McMillan Hotel.

Sunday’s final saw John Davie’s rink get the better of Peter Wilson’s foursome in a dramatic final. Peels going into the last end John Davie had drawn behind a guard. With the last stone of the game Peter Wilson unfortunately fell when coming out of the hack when trying to tap back the Davie shot for the win.
