Martyn takes on Superlap challenge

Good luck to car fan Martyn Henry who is hoping to put this area on the map by competing in this year’s Superlap Scotland event.

Father-of-two Martyn who works locally as a timber harvester operator told The Galloway Gazette: “I am competing in Superlap Scotland which is six rounds at Knockhill, and the MSA UK Time Attack championship which is six rounds at tracks across the UK.

“The first round of SLS was on April 19 and I finished third, okay for my first race. The first round of time attack was on April 25 at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire. I finished fourth after a tough day against cars with a lot more power than I have.

“I spend all my spare time and money converted a normal road going Vauxhall Astra VXR into a full going race car to be able to live out my dream of being able to compete in car racing. I worked at GMC Motorsport in Minnigaff for five years from leaving school where I learned the skills needed to be able to build the car. And I an grateful to David Inglis & Son, Painters and Decorators, for allowing me to build the car in their store.”
