Police continue footballer stabbing

POLICE are continuing their investigations into the stabbing of Stranraer footballer Paul McInnes last week.

The 20-year old player was attacked on a night out at Seamill Hydro, Ardrossan at 1.10am during a confrontation over a taxi.

McInnes, who was stabbed twice, lost litres of blood and suffered a punctured lung in what the police are treating as attempted murder.

He and his friend, Anthony Boyle, also 20, were taken to Crosshouse Hospital at Kilmarnock and Boyle was soon released, but Paul remains under treatment.

A Strathclyde Police spokesperson said: "We are continuing our investigations into the incident but have no update at this time on the condition of Mr McInnes."
