Locals shine on Solway Coast
NEWTON Stewart driver Mark McCulloch powered his Subaru Impreza to third place on Sunday's usedautoparts.co.uk Solway Coast Rally, which was run over the military ranges at Dundrennan.
In the blistering heat, McCulloch, co-driven by Craig Wallace, completed the eight special stages in a total time of 39 minutes 22 seconds.
The pair finished 36 seconds behind overall winner Ian Paterson of Mousewald, who, after a day swapping stage times, pipped fellow Subaru driver Richard Dickson of New Abbey to the top podium spot by just a second.
Craig McMiken of Newton Stewart, with Christine Sanderson of Berwick on the notes, was eighth overall in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9.
The rally returned to the military ranges after an absence of some five years.
Organisers Solway Car Club were delighted with the entry of more than 30 cars, as well as the good crowd of spectators who turned out to enjoy the fast and furious action.
This year's Solway Coast marked 30 years of sponsorship by DA Autoparts, who first sponsored the event back in 1980. Top 10 Finishers:
