pic JAL Brown 2010SIXTY intrepid golfers took to the fairways on Sunday at Dunskey to compete for the prestigious JAL Brown Trophy. Weather conditions were testing to say the least, with a howling wind making life extremely difficult for many players. (Sometimes the flag flies horizontally here - but on Sunday it was almost the flag pole!!)

Having said that, some scores, particularly in the treacherous afternoon round, were excellent and our congratulations go to all those who finished both rounds!

Luce Bay Rosebowl

THE Luce Bay Rosebowl was won by Alastair Jackson from the home club with a net 67. The best scratch score was a 71 by David Brodie from Newton Stewart.

The first class was son by County golfer David Stitt with a gross 73 off his 5 handicap.

The CSS for home players was 70, with away players 73.

Wigtownshire Seniors League

STRANRAER regained the Seniors League title without losing a match.

County were the only other club with a chance of winning, they however lost at St Medan and finished third behind Wigtown.

Galloway Ladies County Golf Association

The Galloway Ladies County Golf Association held their final meeting of the year at Dalbeattie Golf Club on Saturday. The course was in excellent condition and the weather couldn't have been better resulting in some good scores. The winner of the Gray Cup was Susan Bell from Wigtown & Bladnoch with 87 (19) = 68, Runner-up was Sheila McMurtrie from Dalbeattie with 74 (5) = 69 who just beat Jan Kinnaird, also from Dalbeattie, into third place with 86 (17) = 69 after a count-back over the last six holes. The Galloway Ladies are extremely grateful to Dalbeattie Club for the use of the course and thanks are also due to the ladies who stepped in to provide sustenance in the absence of caterers.
