Galloway girls in cup action

GALLOWAY Netball Club hosted Bellahousten in the Scottish Cup Competition at the Merrick, Newton Stewart on Monday.

The team had played Bellahousten before and knew what they were up against.

Bellahousten were the second place winners in the national tournament last year and as a team get a lot of netball.

The GNC played some first -time players to Scottish Cup level and after a settling period the team started to gel .

Unfortunately 'Bella had already taken off to an outstanding lead. Changes were made throughout the game to GNC giving all the new players a run while looking for the right combinations for the other up and coming Scottish Cup games against Orkney (away) and Hamilton (away) and also our entries into the Dumfries and Galloway League.

'Bella kept up their game and speed and kept the scoring up on their end, GNC kept playing with determination and were rewarded with the occasional goal. Players of the match were the dynamic duo of GK - E Davies and GD - E Benny who worked relentlessly.

Special thanks to Umpire Mrs B Chadband and our timekeeper and scorers. Also thanks to our supporters who kept our spirits up during the game.

Training as normal on the 8th March, 7-9pm. Any enquiries please email gallowaynetball@googlemail.com
