Southerness Golf Club
A very competitive Championship, sponsored by Gillespie Leisure, was well supported at Southerness Golf Club, with 66 of the region's top golfers participating. The low round of the day, 66, three under par, was scored by Kyle McClung of Wigtownshire County. This along with a second round two over par score of 71, gave a total of 137, enabling Kyle to take the Championship Trophy for 2010. Second place was secured by Michael Grunwell of Powfoot Golf Club with very creditable scores of 73 + 71 = 144.
The team championship was won by Powfoot Golf Club. The team included Michael along with Neil Hamilton and Ian Thomson. They go forward to represent the region in the Scottish Club Championship played at Fortroe & Rosemarkie Golf Club later this year. Congratulations to Michael and to the Powfoot team on their achievement.
Wigtown & Bladnoch Golf Club recently held an Invitational Scramble to celebrate the club's 50th Anniversay. This was held over two days with the gents playing on the Saturday and the ladies playing on the Sunday. Both days were very successful with lovely sunny weather.
