Ferrytoon in six-sy display

FERRY got off to a dream start when B J Fairhurst hit a free-kick from fully 35 yards into the net after just 45 seconds - leaving the keeper no chance and the visitors stunned.

But the Market nearly equalised in the fourth minute when ex-Ferrytoon player Stevie Robinson screwed wide from 10 yards. Fishy scored in the eighth minute with a superb volley from the edge of the box to double the home side's lead.

Ferry extended their lead when Burton beat the Market defence to shoot home from 20 yards.

Kenny Wallace then collected ball at half-way, beat three players and crossed inch-perfect for Fishy, who met it beautifully, but his volley came off the post, ran along the line, hit the other post and back out. Burton then blasted over from close range. Market pulled one back in the 41st minute when a blatant offside decision was waved on and Robinson tucked it into corner of net. Just on half-time Gags Fairhurst played a defence-splitting pass to Burton, who scored his second and Ferry's fourth.

Market pulled another back in the 70th minute when a long throw deceived everybody and hit the back post, where Potts tapped it in.

Ferry wrapped the game up with five minutes left when Murphy's kick out was flicked on by B J to Matt Burton, who calmly slotted past McKinnon to make it 5-2.

Fishy completed the scoring when he latched on to a loose ball and waltzed through the defence, rounding the keeper to make it six. Match ball was sponsored by Gareth Murphy Plumbing, Minnigaff.
