There are five South of Scotland League matches scheduled to be played this Saturday along with the two semi finals of the SCFA Alternative Cup.

In the cup competition Nithsdale Wanderers play hosts to Creetown for what looks like a fairly even contest and with home advantage favouring the Sanquhar side they will start as slight favourites to progress to the final.

However Creetown know their way to goal and have a very competent pool of players who if at their best could well see them beating Nithsdale in what could be a fairly high scoring encounter that could possibly take more than the regulation ninety minutes to decide a winner. Abbey Vale look the more likelier of the two when they play Lochar Thistle at New Abbey.

Lochar seem to have hit a slump in form recently and are failing to hit the highs of previous seasons and although on their day they can compete with most teams in South football on this occasion the home side will start as favourites to go through to this particular final.

In the league Dumfries Ymca play hosts to second placed Mid Annandale with the visitors strong favourites to take the three points to maintain their present lofty position in the table . Lochmaben have league leaders Wigtown and Bladnoch as their visitors for a game Wigtown should take another three points from to maintain their good start to the season.

Newton Stewart visit Kirkcudbright to take on present champions St Cuthbert Wanderers for what should be a very entertaining match with more than a few goals for both sides while Threave rovers and Edusport Academy lock horns at Meadow Park for what could be a very close and even encounter. Upper Annandale entertain Heston rovers at Moffat for a match that could go either way with present form suggesting a victory and three points for the Dumfries side.

On Wednesday evening Edusport Academy take on Lochmaben at Galabank in a league match with the home side strong favourites to take the three points.
