The ladies cricket team talk tactics

GALLOWAY Cricket Club have started a new ladies team and had a special visit last week to help kick-start the team’s activities.

Sixteen ladies turned up for a very special practice on Monday night where Kari Anderson, captain of the Scottish women’s National side, national coach, and cricket Scotland’s head of women’s cricket went to put the lassies through their paces.

Kari gave a coaching session and lots of help and tips regarding, funding, training and coaching. It was a beautiful evening with the sun shining down and there was a real buzz about the atmosphere, with as many - if not more - juniors there practising at the same time.

Kari is hoping to run indoor competitions through the winter so the ladies intend to continue training right through in order to take part and also in preparation for joining the Scottish women’s league and cup in the 2012 season.

The team are always looking for new ladies/girls to join the swelling ranks and would love to hear from anyone who has even the slightest interest in cricket - even if just to keep fit and socialise with us friendly bunch of girls.
