Kirkcudbright clubs gain accreditation

Two Kirkcudbright sports clubs recently gained the Dumfries & Galloway Sports Club Accreditation Award. The Stewartry Archers and Kirkcudbright Lawn Tennis Club have joined three other Stewartry clubs in meeting minimum standards to gain the Council’s club accreditation award.

The accreditation scheme supports clubs to further improve how they operate. It provides a quality indicator to parents, coaches, athletes and grant awarding agencies to show that they have achieved nationally recognised minimum criteria in child protection and other key areas.

The clubs worked hard and last month joined Tongland Family Golf Centre, Stewartry Athletics Club and Stewartry RFC in achieving the award. They now can access Stewartry Sports Council funding as well as gaining free places on first aid courses and safeguarding and protecting children workshops run by the Council.
