It’s has been quite a season do far for Stranraer curler Kate Adams. Normally, Kate is in the stands as the proud mum of Olympic bronze medallist Vicki, but there year she has seem the spotlight on her as well.

Last month she skipped her seniors team to a memorable win at the Edinburgh International seniors and last week, having teamed up with one of the team she beat in that final, she won the Henderson Bishop qualifier at Stranraer Ice Rink.

Kate’s team of Christine Cannon, Katie Wright and Anne Wilson (substituting for Louise Kerr) beat Maureen Parker’s team of Beth parker, Lorna McMillan and Jackie Wright 9-3 in last Friday’s final. Team Adams scores at three in the first end, lost a three in the second, got a two in the third, stole a one in the fourth, stole a two in the fifth and another one in the sixth. At that point the teams shook hands.

Kate and her rink will now go forward to Lockerbie Ice Rink to take part in the Henderson Bishop finals from February 29 to March 3. At the finals, the team will face the best ladies rinks from every ice rink in Great Britain for the coveted trophy.
