Numbers more than doubled at this year’s Rhins Primary Badminton Championship.

The competition had to be held over three nights to accommodate the 138 entrants.

The competition comprised five events, including singles, doubles and mixed doubles. All the events were run at Stranraer Academy and supported by the PE department and sports leaders, who gave up their time to assist.

The results for all the events were as follows.

Boys singles: 1. Jack Jukes, Kirkcolm (Rhins boys champion 2014), 2. Nathan Walker, Sheuchan, 3. Fraser Sullivan, Glenluce.

Girls singles: 1. Cerys McDowell, Glenluce (Rhins girls champion 2014), 2. Charlie Currie, Portpatrick, 3. Jessica Sproat, Sandhead.

Girls doubles: 1. Cerys McDowell and Cara Sloan, Glenluce, 2. Lara Cole and Charlie Currie, Portpatrick, 3. Heather Nicol and Ashley Garrett, Kirkcolm.

Boys doubles: 1. Ben Sproat and Morgan Coulter, Sandhead, 2. Kaleb Johnstone and Aaron Derry, Sheuchan, 3. Craig Anderson and Gordon Johnstone, Leswalt.

Mixed doubles: 1. Finlay Ramsay and Cerys McDowell, Glenluce, 2. William Hardie and Lily Patchett, Sandhead, 3. Charlie Currie and Finn Marshall, Portpatrick.
