There were six Cree Lodge cup first round ties played last Saturday with a total of 35 goals being scored.

Newton Stewart recorded a very good victory over Threave Rovers at Blairmount Park with the odd goal in three securing victory.

The home side started well and it was no surprise when they scored with Ross McCrindle finding the net after only 12 minutes to give the Creesiders a lead that they took into the break.

Ten minutes after the restart Rory Drysdale doubled Newton’s lead for a goal that spurred the visitors on to try and get back into the game.

However the home side held on until stoppage time when Threave scored what proved a be a consolation goal and the Creesiders took their place in round two.

Heston Rovers reached round two by beating Abbey Vale 4-2 at Palmerston Park with Ross Newlands and Russell Jardine providing two goals each for the home side.

Lochar also found the net four times in their match at Maxwelltown High School without reply with Kieran Krause opening the scoring in the 28th minute and Lee Martin adding a second before the break.

In the 68th minute Ryan Coates put Lochar three ahead and four minutes later Lee Martin with his second put the tie beyond Creetown with a fourth strike.

Mid Annandale scored double figures when they hit Dumfries YMCA for ten while St Cuthbert Wanderers put Wigtown and Bladnoch to the sword at Trammondford park with a 4-1 victory.

Nithsdale wanderers and Upper Annandale shared seven goals at Sanquhar with the Moffat side coming out on top.
