The Glenkens Gun Club held their annual Clay Pigeon Shoot at Craighead Farm, Dalry on Saturday, May 3.
The weather was kind to us and remained dry all day with hardly a breath of wind which made for very level targets. A field of 30 shooters took part in the day’s events, numbers being slightly higher than last year.
Wilson Munro won the WD Lorimer Cup for the full day with a score of 145 x 150. He also won the McQuaker Cup for those shooters classed as Veterans and the D H McCrone Shield for most points in events 2 and 3, after a shoot off with David McMath. The Brian Vincent Rosebowl for any shooter never classified A or AA, was won by Peter Allison and the John Carruthers Cup for the runner up was won by John Peacock who also won the Kyle Cup and the Carnochan Memorial Trophy, both of which are confined to members of the committee.
Billy Paton won the McNaught Trophy for the Pool Trap and the runner up was Davy McCulloch.
Cameron Miller was the highest scoring junior.
