Dumfries and Galloway Disability Sport took two regional football teams to Glasgow Green last week to compete in the Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) National 5-a-side football championships for adults with a learning disability.

The national championships were held at Glasgow Green, Glasgow.

The competition had over 30 other teams from across Scotland taking part and the Dumfries and Galloway players came from Annan, Dumfries and Stranraer and competed in the C and D Band divisions with the C Band team winning the Bronze Medal, the D band teams had some tough games. All of the footballers played extremely well and a great day of football was enjoyed.

Ross Murray, football coach said: “The teams performed admirably against some stiff opposition which is testament to their hard work and commitment, with the spirit shown by the teams being fantastic.”

Disability Multi sport sessions currently run in the Ryan leisure Centre, Stranraer on a Wednesday night at 6.45-7.30pm for 5-12 years and 7.30 – 8.15pm for 12+ years, sessions cost £1.45.
