Full south league programme this weekend

The South of Scotland league campaign rolls on with another full programme of matches scheduled for this Saturday and the following Wednesday.

Abbey Vale have St Cuthbert Wanderers as their visitors to New Abbey for a match that could go either way while Dumfries YMCA entertain Fleet Star.

Star will start this match as favourites to take the three points while Mid-Annandale will also be slight favourites to come out on top when they have Creetown as their guests at Lockerbie. The Dumfries local derby where Lochar play hosts to neighbours Crichton looks too close to predict a winner and a share of the points looks like a distinct possibility in this contest.

Newton Stewart and Heston Rovers meet at Blairmount Park for another match that looks very evenly balanced although home advantage could be the deciding factor in this encounter. Wigtown and Bladnoch travel to Moffat to play Upper Annandale and are expected to return home with the three points.

On Wednesday evening another seven league matches will be played with Edusport Academy playing hosts to Lochar Thistle at Galabank, Annan.

The home side are expected to take the points from this match in what could be a match with a few goals in it for each team. Fleet Star and neighbours Creetown lock horns at Garries Park for a match that looks too close to call while Heston Rovers entertain Nithsdale Wanderers in Dumfries and are expected to take the three points. Mid-Annandale should take the points from their encounter with Dumfries YMCA while Abbey Vale will start as slight favourites to record a victory over Upper Annandale at Moffat.

The other two matches could be classed as matches of the day with St Cuthbert Wanderers taking on Crichton at St Marys Park and Wigtown and Bladnoch locking horns with Newton Stewart in a local derby at Trammondford Park. Home advantage could play a big part in the outcome of both these matches although both could go right down to the wire to find a winner.
